Hip Hop is a street dance style that relates to music, art, fashion and self-expression and is forever evolving. This high energy class infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping and locking focusing on musicality and rhythm.
Popping is based on the technique of quickly contracting and relaxing muscles to cause a jerk in the dancer’s body, referred to as a “pop” or “hit”. This is done continuously to the rhythm of a song in combination with various movements and poses.
Locking is a dance style characterized by freezing from a fast movement and “locking” in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing in the same speed as before.
Waack/Punk is a form of dance that consists of moving the arms to the music beat, typically in a movement of the arms over and behind the shoulder. Waacking also contains other elements such as posing and footwork.
Commercial Dance is a combination of many styles such as Street, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Contemporary. It is the type of dance seen in music videos, on the catwalk and at fashion shows, artist tours, advertising campaigns, corporate events, TV and film.
